The direct anterior approach (DAA) is a modern approach for hip replacement surgery that does not involve cutting any muscles. As such, recovery tends to be much quicker with a shorter hospital stay and patients are able to discard crutches quicker than after a conventional posterior approach hip replacement. The rate of dislocation is the lowest of any hip replacement technique.
